Keeping the Edge Off

I've discovered a few tricks to help take the edge off of hunger when it creeps up on you.  There are definitely days throughout the program where your body just wants a little more than what you're giving it, and what the Tsubo balls can overcome.  On these days, I've found the following tricks work:

1.  Have some tea and boost up the honey.  Typically, I'll only put a teaspoon of honey in my tea - any more than that and it's just too sweet.  But when a hunger pang strikes, putting in an extra teaspoon of honey really helps.

2. Parsley and Cilantro are your friend.  Chop up some parsley and cilantro, and maybe some sweet Vidalia onion, finely chopped.  Sprinkle on some Mrs. Dash, and squeeze a little lemon juice over it.  Instant salad, legal on any day, including milk days.  Without the onion, you can even have it in the evening, after 6pm.  For a creamier dressing, try the Tahini dressing - but I'd stick to using that dressing between the noon and 6pm times only since it is rich.

3. Have a little soup.  The Sadkhin Complex has a product they call "Sadkhin Soup" to go along with all their other products.  Like all their other products, it is overpriced and you are paying for the convenience and the label on it.  I checked out the ingredient list on it and came up with a suitable homemade alternative to it.  You are allowed to have this soup at any time, on any day, including before noon and after 6pm, so it makes a great mid-morning or late-night snack.  This is especially helpful when you've had to wake up earlier than usual and it takes longer to get to that noon hour.

4. Have a glass of wine.  You are allowed up to a glass (5oz) of dry, red wine on your fruit/veggie days.  So if it is a fruit/veggie day and you're struggling, have a glass.  The wine is allowed in the evening after 6pm as well, so it makes a nice way to end the day.  Since you are not consuming very many calories, I would recommend that you start out with just a half glass - a couple of ounces - so that the alcohol doesn't get to you.

5. Do something.  When hunger hits, counteract it by doing something to distract yourself.  A lot of times, hunger will hit simply because you are sitting stationery, being bored - and that is when we want to eat.  Get up and go do something.  Clean a bathroom, vacuum a floor, take a walk around the block.  You'll feel productive and it will take your mind off the hunger.

Of course, if you're within the noon to 6pm time-frame and you haven't yet reached your allotment of consumables for the day and you get hungry - have some!  Milk day?  Have a glass of milk or a little yogurt.  Fruit/veggie day?  Eat some fruit.  Or some veggies.  Or whatever you have planned for the day.  There's no need to starve yourself.  The tips I've given here are really meant for the morning or evening times, when you're not allowed to have your daily consumables.
